Bryan Hymel on finding his voice and performing Carmen
Following his debut with the Washington National Opera as Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, Bryan Hymel reprises the role in his return to the Royal Opera House. Praised for his compelling performance and expressivity, the American tenor brings “vast reserves of power” to Bizet’s tragic soldier (Bachtrack).
Bryan reflects on his growth from a young singer in New Orleans to the “reigning American tenor du jour in the French repertory” in an article published in The Independent (Washington Post).
Bryan continues performances of Carmen at the Royal Opera House through November 10.
