Bryan Hymel returns to the Met to star in Madama Butterfly
Following a wildly acclaimed house debut in 2012, tenor Bryan Hymel returns to the Metropolitan Opera this month to star in Madama Butterfly. Puccini’s verismo classic about a naïve Japanese geisha who marries a caddish American naval officer features Bryan as B.F. Pinkerton, starring opposite soprano Amanda Echalaz as Cio-Cio-San. Anthony Minghella’s lush production also includes Elizabeth DeShong as Suzuki and Scott Hendricks as Sharpless.
French conductor Philippe Auguin conducts performances on January 16, 20, 24, 28, and February 1. For more information and tickets, click here.
