Bryan Hymel Shines in ‘Elina Garanca and Friends: Music Under the Stars’

_RR_0234-2Bryan enjoyed great success across Austria last week as he appeared in concert with Latvian mezzo Elina Garanca as part of a three-city tour dubbed “Music Under the Stars.” Indeed, he was referred to by Austria’s Kurier as the evening’s “shooting star.”

“The discovery of the evening…was tenor Bryan Hymel,” raved Kurier. “The young singer has a pleasant, strong voice, which he uses without force and with great musicality. His interpretation of the great aria ‘Di quella pira’ from Verdi’s Il Trovatore was simply gorgeous. We can readily look forward to Hymel’s Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at the Wiener Staatsoper (April 2014)!”

Bryan himself has more Verdi to look forward to with a return to London’s Royal Opera House for the composer’s Les Vêpres Siciliennes this fall. Meanwhile, Austrian audiences can hear more from the stellar tenor before next April: He sings the role of Michael the Archangel in Braunfels’s Szenen aus dem Leben der Heiligen Johanna on August 1 at the Salzburg Festival.
