Hear Bryan perform Guillaume Tell live at the Met


Tune in on October 18 to hear Bryan Hymel sing opening night of Guillaume Tell at the Metropolitan Opera. The American tenor returns to Rossini’s epic work as Arnold, the love interest of Marina Rebeka’s Mathilde.

Fabio Luisi conducts Pierre Audi’s new production, which features Gerald Finley in the title role and performances by Janai Brugger, Maria Zifchak, Marianna Pizzolato, Marco Spotti, Kwangchul Youn, and John Relyea.

Metropolitan Opera welcomes Bryan for Guillaume Tell

Photo: Dario AcostaBryan Hymel kicks off the 2016-17 season with his return to the Metropolitan Opera for Rossini’s Guillaume Tell. The American tenor reprises the role of Arnold, having made his debut in Rossini’s work at the Bayerische Staatsoper to great acclaim in 2014. Opera News praised Bryan’s performance in “the nearly impossible role of Arnold Melchtal,” commending his “envious sense of lyrical phrasing.”

The American tenor reflects on his debut at the New York theater as a last minute replacement in Berlioz’ Les Troyens. Bryan discusses the opportunity of a lifetime and the feeling of invincibility before taking the stage and performing the notoriously difficult role.
